Custom Plantation Shutters for Specialty Windows in St. Louis

Not every window is a simple rectangle. A lot of St. Louis homes have arched windows, transom details, or doors with glass panels - and those shapes give most window treatment options fits. Here's what we were working with on this job: a tall arched window in a master bath sitting above a soaking tub, plus a full-length door panel with a cutout for the door handle. Both required shutters built specifically to fit - not something you pull off a shelf. The arch got a sunburst shutter for the top half, with the louvers fanning out from the center to follow the curve of the window. Below that, a standard two-panel shutter fills out the rectangular lower section. The result is one cohesive unit that looks intentional, not pieced together.

The door shutter is its own challenge. You need the louvers to work around a handle cutout without the whole panel looking awkward. When it's done right, you barely notice the cutout - the shutter just looks clean and fits the door like it was always meant to be there. That kind of fit takes precise measuring and custom fabrication. There's no shortcut to getting it right.

What plantation shutters do well - beyond just looking good - is give you real control. You can tilt the louvers to let in light without sacrificing privacy.
